Town Meeting

No Vermonter ever padlocks his wrist to the plow and throws away the key... If a special Town Meeting should be called in haying time--perish the thought!--about a matter involving what the Vermonter thinks of as human liberty... no Vermont Farmer ever lived who would not stick his pitch fork into a cock of hay, drive to town and cast his vote."

Dorothy Canfield Fisher
