Machine pieced; machine quilted by Lynn Wheatley, South Royalton, Vermont
“I am eight years old, going into 3rd grade at Woodstock Elementary School and this is my first quilt! It took me about nine months to complete, with a little help from Nana, my grandmother Wolfe.
I was inspired to make this quilt after reading all of the Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House books. A Christmas lap quilt sounded so cozy to snuggle in with while reading during cold winter months!
I selected fabrics that are my favorite Christmas colors – red, green, white, blue and yellow. I chose my pattern from a stack of books borrowed from quilting friends at my church, Taftsville Chapel Mennonite Fellowship. I had hoped to tie it with them, but then Covid-19 happened. The machine-quilted holly leaves are beautiful.
I am so happy with the quilt and so happy to be able to show it this year. I look forward to more reading and more quilting!”
