“Last summer, 2019, I wondered how hard it was to use fabric to make a five-pointed star. I found out. It’s hard! I decided to use a yellow background and black borders, with multiple colors for the star. Maybe this would make a wall hanging…? After several tries, I did make a multicolored star surrounded by yellow fabric.
Thanks to YouTube, I learned how to cut 4 triangles, which made a rectangular frame around each subsequent diamond. The quilt grew, with many bumps along the way. Finally, last week, the black fabric made the border/binding.
I did the over-all free motion quilting on my home sewing machine as I made each strip of diamonds. I deliberately didn’t do any free motion quilting on the black binding/border. I like its soft, puffy look and feel.”
