The Librarians
follows a courageous group of librarians who become unlikely defenders of democracy amid an unprecedented wave of book bans sweeping Texas, Florida, and beyond. When the Krause List targets 850 titles focused on race and LGBTQIA+ stories, censorship spreads nationwide.

Facing harassment, threats, and laws that criminalize their work, these librarians unite to protect the freedom to read and the principles of the First Amendment. Connecting the dots from local board meetings to a coordinated extremist movement, The Librarians reveals how controlling ideas means controlling communities, and why the fight for intellectual freedom has never been more vital.

“Filmmaker Kim A. Snyder’s illuminating documentary offers a rattling look at coordinated efforts to ban books. More importantly, it introduces viewers to the everyday and increasingly vital heroes pushing back.” – Variety
