May Story Time Programs for Preschoolers
May 1 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
An event every week that begins at 9:00am on Wednesday, repeating until May 29, 2019
Programs for Preschoolers will be offered Wednesday mornings in May, from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Each program will feature a story, visit to the farm, hands-on activity, and snack. The cost is $3.00 per person for Billings Farm & Museum members, and $5.00 per person for non-members (includes admission to the Farm & Museum).
May 1: Three Billy Goats Gruff. The three Billy Goats Gruff have eaten all the grass on their side of the bridge. There is grass on the other side of the bridge but the mean, old troll lives under the bridge. Will they brave the troll to get to the green grass? We’ll visit our goats, create goat puppets and enjoy goat cheese and crackers with friends. Don’t worry we don’t have any trolls!
May 8: Huck’s Way Home. Huck was a week-old steer when he got lost within minutes of his arrival at Billings Farm. Learn about Huck’s adventures and his journey back to his new home. We will meet Huck, make a steer craft to take home and enjoy a snack together.
May 15: Farm Flu. What’s a young boy to do when his cow, then the chickens and pigs come down with the flu? Discover how the farmers work to maintain healthy animals, from proper nutrition to trimming hooves when we visit with the animals in the barns. Make a hay barn from popsicle sticks! Sharing a snack of popcorn & milk makes everyone feel better!
May 22: Farmer Brown Shears His Sheep. Find out what Farmer Brown’s sheep do when they get chilly as we read Farmer Brown Shears His Sheep, A Yarn About Wool. Visit the sheep pen and feel their heavy fleece-they won’t have it for long! Design a sheep mask and share a snack with friends.
May 29: Sunflower House. What can you make when you plant sunflower seeds in a circle? A wonderful place to imagine and play! We will visit our gardens, plant a sunflower seed to take home for your own sunflower house and share a veggie treat.
