We will take advantage of the adjacent National Historical Park for hiking and learn about Vermont’s natural history. DESCRIPTION:Join the Billings Bookworms! From July 12 through August 16\, kids ages 6-8 are invited to Billings Farm & Museum each week to read about and explore a farm-themed topic. This is not just a book club! There are activities and crafts each week and Bookworms get to experience all the site has to offer. \nBillings Bookworms Week 3: Brave Charlotte \n10-10:30 Book reading and exploration. Bookworms will listen to an educator read Brave Charlotte by Anu Sohner and Henrike Wilson. Each Bookworm will choose a passage that stands out to them and write or draw about it and share that with the group. \n10:30-10:45 Snack time. Snack will be provided by Billings Farm & Museum. During snack Bookworms will listen to a chapter from Good Dog: Herd You Loud and Clear by Cam Higgins and Ariel Landy\, which is about a young herding dog working to bring in the sheep. Each week we will continue reading from this chapter book until it is finished on the last day of the club.  \n10:45-11:30 Activity time. Today the Bookworms will meet our sheep\, learn about how we care for them\, and card wool. Our readers will even get to make a wool butterfly to take home!   \nLearn more about Billings Bookworms and complete the application form. \nBillings Bookworms is for kids ages 6-8 \nOne session: $25 per participant/$20 per BF&M member\n6-week Series: $125 per participant/$100 per BF&M member. \nSpaces are limited!

DESCRIPTION:Each week in July and August\, Billings Farm & Museum will highlight a different farm animal with daily up-close programs\, displays and explorations and a “themed” food recipe. \nMeet these farm animals with daily programs at 11 am\, 1 pm and 3 pm: \nGiddy Goats: July 26-July 31 and August 23-27 \nMeet a Sheep: August 2-8 \nCheck Out the Chickens: August 9-15 \nGentle Jersey Cows: August 16-22 \nLearn more about the featured farm animal and their role on the farm. Enjoy a “featured animal” scavenger hunt in the Farm Life Exhibits and pick up a themed recipe from the Learning Kitchen. \nPrograms take place daily\, except on Special Event Days: (August 1\, 28 & 29).

SUMMARY:Junior Farmer Camp: Session Three
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a farmer? Junior Farmer Camp is designed to help kids\, ages 7-10 (entering grades 2-5)\, discover for themselves by stepping into a farmer’s shoes for a week. \nThe majority of our camp activities will be held outside where campers can maintain social distance. This year we will offer outdoor animal chores with the sheep\, goats\, chickens\, and heifers\, tractor-drawn wagon rides\, games\, gardening\, crafts\, and cooking. We will take advantage of the adjacent National Historical Park for hiking and learn about Vermont’s natural history.
