SUMMARY:Farm Discovery Camp Session 1
DESCRIPTION:  \nGo in-depth into the world of farming!\nWhat does it mean to be part of a farming community? Farm Discovery Camp is a hands-on program for young people\, ages 11-14 (rising 6th-9th graders)\, who want a deeper understanding of farming and all that it encompasses. \nAt Farm Discovery Camp you will meet local professionals and farmers who are leaders in their fields — the Billings Dairy Farm Manager\, local beekeepers\, and a large animal veterinarian. Work alongside our farmers to learn the ins and outs of dairy production. Take part in a local service project — at Billings Farm or in the Woodstock community and make a lasting difference. Along the way\, you will gain an awareness of the many ways our food systems and our ecosystems are interconnected. You will have the chance to: \n\nExperience the daily rhythms of farming and learn firsthand how farmers make decisions about caring for the herd and the land\nMake farm-fresh food including homemade macaroni and cheese and ice cream with Billings Farm’s jersey cow milk\nMeet farmers in our community and learn how to care for a calf\, raise bees\, and more\nTry fiber arts such as felting wool from Billings Farm sheep\nExplore the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park with a park ranger\nMake an impact on the farm and in the community with organized service projects\n\nOur response to COVID-19 will continue to be updated. Campers and parents will receive prior notice of all other safety precautions and processes implemented at the Farm & Museum. \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAftercare Information:\nWe understand that everyone’s schedule is a little different and picking up your camper(s) can be a challenge at times. We’re happy to offer an aftercare option for families who are not able to make it to the 4:00 pm pick up time. \nAftercare runs from 4:00 pm – 5:15 pm\, Monday through Friday. Aftercare is only available for full-day camps (Junior Farmer Camp & Farm Discovery Camp). You may register your camper(s) for this option on a weekly basis for $60 per camper per week. Your payment holds you spot in aftercare\, and you can pay through our website after completing the camp forms. \nWe have a minimum attendance requirement to be able to provide this service. We will inform you 30 days prior to your camper’s session if aftercare is unavailable. We will process a refund at that time. \nAftercare is a supervised time but not a structured activity time. Campers are encouraged to bring a book or other activity for this time. \nThank you for choosing Billings Farm & Museum’s Summer Camp Program and we look forward to seeing you soon! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n2023 Dates:\n\nSession 1: July 10-14\nSession 2: August 7-11\nTime: 9 am – 4 pm\nDrop off between 8:45am and 9am. Pick up promptly at 4pm.\n \nTo be added to the waitlist for sessions that are FULL\, please fill out the registration form below and email gbourassa@billingsfarm.org.  \nWe will go through the waitlist in order if a spot opens up more than one week before the camp session starts. Otherwise\, we will send out an email to the whole waitlist and the first one to respond gets the spot.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n2023 Pricing:\n\n$300 for Billings Farm Members (see membership for all the perks!) \n$350 for non-members \n10% discount for the second sibling registered for the same camp session \nNot a member? Join today! \nNote: Payment is required to reserve your slot. \nRefunds can be given if notice is received prior to May 22nd with a $50 processing fee. No refunds after May 22nd. If you are requesting to move your camper to another session\, we will do so if there is availability.  \nContact Gabi at gbourassa@billingsfarm.org for registration information.
