He grows\, tends and nourishes the Kelly Way Gardens and the annual Sunflower House at Billings Farm. \n \nBenjamin Pauly was born a gardener and raised on 10-acre farm in Minnesota.  Summers were spent tending plants and his love for working the land grew from sculpting the homestead to residential landscape designing during the summers as he completed his masters in Architecture.  An escape from the winters led him to do natural resource management and organic farming as a Peace Corps volunteer in Togo\, West Africa.  Craving the rhythms of the seasons of Vermont\, Benjamin has developed a love of holistic gardening that includes cut flowers\, fruits\, vegetables\, herbs\, and plants that support wildlife and beneficial insects.  When asked what his favorite plants are to grow\, his answer will change weekly with the weather as we float from spring cut flowers of forget me nots and alliums to the luscious heirloom tomatoes of high summer and then onward to the sprawling pumpkins and gourds of Autumn.

SUMMARY:Woodstock VT Film Series: Come Back Anytime POSTPONED
DESCRIPTION:WOODSTOCK VERMONT FILM SERIES KICK-OFF EVENT\nSaturday November 19\, 2022 \nCOME BACK ANYTIME\nA Celebration of Film\, Food and Community \nTHIS SCREENING HAS BEEN POSTPONED \n  \nCOME BACK ANYTIME \nDirected by John Daschbach.\n81 minutes. Japanese.  Not rated. \nFeaturing Masamoto and Kazuko Ueda. \nThe film presents a window into the lives of self-taught Japanese ramen master Masamoto Ueda and his wife Kazuko\, who have run their tiny Tokyo ramen shop\, Bizentei\, for more than 40 years. Ueda serves his legendary ramen to scores of devoted customers who have joined him over the decades in making the restaurant an intimate place of community. For Ueda\, it’s more than just a livelihood\, but his life. And his die-hard regulars are more than just customers. They are true friends. \nOn the weekends\, they venture together across the Japanese countryside\, harvesting pears\, bamboo shoots\, and wild mountain yams. Acknowledging that nothing lasts forever and that the master must retire someday\, everyone resolves to make the best of what time remains — to truly appreciate this special place\, this uniquely delicious and soul-nourishing food\, and this special community of friends before it is gone forever. \n“As the Cheers theme goes\, sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. The ramen shop pictured in Come Back Anytime is such a place to its beloved group of regulars. While this cozy\, heartwarming doc is about the artistry of an excellent bowl of soup\, it is just as much about the power of community and connection… (It) recreates a welcome atmosphere of warmth and ambiance after an extremely isolating year.”  – POV Magazine \nJury Award\, Best Documentary\, Sonoma International Film Festival \n \nVIEW THE WOODSTOCK VERMONT FILM SERIES LISTINGS
