Each Billings Bookworm session lasts 90 minutes. Here is a typical schedule:
10-10:30 Book reading and exploration. Listen to and discuss a picture book read by an educator. Each participant selects a passage, and writes or draws what comes to mind. This is followed by voluntary sharing with the group.
10:30-10:45 Snack time. The educator will read from a chapter book while the members of the group eat. Each week we will continue reading from this chapter book until it is finished on the last day of the club. The book is called Good Dog: Herd You Loud and Clear and is about a young herding dog working to bring in the sheep.
10:45-11:30 Activity time. Depending on the week, the group will make butter in a jar, meet the farm’s heifers, meet a sheep and card some wool, plant in the garden, feed the chickens, learn about native plants, or visit the horses.
