Gather your friends and family for a fun-filled July 4th on the Farm!

Celebrate America’s 250^th birthday with horse-drawn wagon rides, ice cream-making, live music, historic “base ball”, and spelling bees.

Step back in time for a lively game of historic “base ball,” played by 1860 rules, complete with wood shaving baselines, straw-stuffed canvas bases, ash bat reproductions, and barehanded play. Join a team or cheer from the bleachers for this classic American pastime!

Word lovers can test their skills in youth and adult spelling bees with a fun 19th-century twist. Stroll the Farmstead Gardens, including the Victory Garden inspired by WWII-era efforts to encourage home gardening so food processing plants could support the war efforts.

Be sure to stop by the Farmhouse Scoop Shop for Vermont-made ice cream and snacks, the perfect summer treat!

June 27, 2026, 10:00AM – 5:00PM

Join us for a joyful day of cows, culture, and culinary delights!

Celebrate Dairy Month with a deliciously fun day on the farm- perfect for families, food, cheese lovers, and curious kids alike! Taste Vermont dairy favorites, meet the cows, discover how milk travels from field to fridge.

Take a pasture walk with a farmer to explore dairy tools, regenerative agriculture, and rotational grazing. Get hands-on with butter and ice cream making, play the “From-a-cow, Not-from-a-cow” game, and learn how soil, plants, and cows all work together to bring dairy to your plate.

History fans will enjoy a Creamery Tour, explore artifacts and historic photos from the Billings-Starlake Dairy operation, and chat with our archivist about Vermont’s dairy heritage.

The day will also feature an exciting game of historic base ball played by 1860s rules, complete with wooden bats, barehanded catches, straw-filled bases, and plenty of old-fashioned fun. Join a team or cheer from the bleachers for one of America’s original pastimes.

May 30, 2026, 10:00AM – 5:00PM

Celebrate all things sheep and wool with a weekend of family fun!

From fleece to fiber wonders, visitors of all ages will explore the steps of wool processing through hands-on activities and live demonstrations. Try interactive stations, from cleaning fleeces at the Skirting and Washing Stations to aligning fibers at the Carding Station. View dying demonstrations and admire a colorful display of dyed skeins of yarn showcased the final transformation of raw wool.

Enjoy drop spindle and wheel spinning demonstrations, create your own woolen bracelet to take home, discover fiber arts like felting, knitting, and crocheting, and watch live weaving on a loom. Younger visitors will enjoy Story Time and visitors of all ages will enjoy the Sheep Education Programs.

Adding to the excitement, the timeless art of sheep herding will come alive with Morse Brook Farm’s Shepherdess Liz Shaw and her skilled Border Collies. Learn how working dogs support life on the farm and watch them expertly guide the flock in live herding demonstrations.

May 14, 2026, 4:30PM – 6:30PM

Pack a blanket and your favorite picnic dinner and join us for a relaxed, after-hours evening at the farm, created especially for Billings Farm & Museum members. This family-friendly gathering is a chance to slow down, explore, and enjoy the farm together.

Dessert is on us! Each attendee will receive one complimentary scoop of ice cream from the Farmhouse Scoop Shop.

Throughout the evening, meet our animal ambassadors, play lawn games, and test your skills on the obstacle course. Wander the Farmstead Gardens, tour the vibrant Art on the Barns Exhibition, and sample Billings Farm cheese. Younger visitors can enjoy interactive play areas, and sensory activities designed especially for kids.

It’s time for the cutest event of the year!

This joyful weekend invites visitors to get up close with baby farm animals, enjoy hands-on activities, and celebrate the season of new life on the farm.

Meet Billings Farm’s newest arrivals- including calves, piglets, and goat kids- along with special guest animals from local farms and community partners. Learn about the animals and discover how they are cared for on a working dairy farm.

Throughout the day, guests can enjoy classic farm fun like wagon rides, interactive play areas, and sensory activities designed especially for kids. With food and refreshments available on site, it’s easy to spend the day exploring.

Watch the farm’s Southdown sheep and fiber goats as they receive their spring “wool cuts” during live shearing demonstrations. Watch skilled shearers Philo and Craig Marcotte in action as they showcase the evolution of shearing tools and share fascinating insights into the shearing process.

Billings Farm & Museum invites you to kick off our 44th season with a smile!

Celebrate opening day with a complimentary scoop of ice cream with admission, then spend the day exploring the farm. Meet our cows, draft horses, sheep, goats, and chickens in the barns and scenic pastures.  Tour the 1890 Farm Manager’s House and exhibitions and enjoy engaging, hands-on programs for all ages.

Explore Vermont’s rich maple history, learn all about maple syrup traditions in Vermont, and enjoy the beautiful farmstead as winter begins its slow turn to spring.  Stroll the snow-covered farm, see sap flowing from tapped maple trees, and learn how maple syrup has been made and enjoyed for generations. Make your own maple butter. Enjoy maple tastings to sample different grades of syrup and maple sugar, and discover what makes each unique. Enjoy sleigh rides each day from 11:00AM – 3:00PM.
