Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a farmer?
Junior Farmer Camp, is designed to help kids discover for themselves by stepping into a farmer’s shoes for a week.
Junior Farmer Camp is as hands-on as it gets. Campers will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the farm’s cows, horses, chickens, and sheep while learning the work that goes into the food we eat. In addition to daily farm chores and activities, we will explore a different farming topics like dairy, gardening, tractors, and draft animals. Other fun camp activities include:
-
-
- Taking a hayride through the farm fields
- Having a pizza party with garden fresh ingredients
- Participating in scavenger hunts around the farm
- Tie dying a Junior Farmer Camp t-shirt
-
Campers help with animal chores, take tractor-drawn wagon rides, play games, and do gardening, crafts, and cooking. We will take advantage of the adjacent National Historical Park for hiking and learn about Vermont’s natural history. We can’t wait to see you at Junior Farmer Camp!
The safety and care of your child is of the utmost importance to us while they are a camper at Billings Farm & Museum. We carefully vet and screen camp counselors, conducting both background and reference checks before hiring them to work with our campers. Our response to COVID-19 will continue to be updated as necessary. Campers and parents will receive prior notice of all other safety precautions and processes implemented at the Farm & Museum. Please let us know if you have any questions about our safety practices.
Proof of Age Required
Please note, you will be asked to provide proof of age of your camper on the first day of camp. We will not be collecting documents but will need to see one of the below documents before admitting your camper for the week. Without one of the below documents on the first day, your camper will not be admitted to camp. Acceptable forms of proof of age are a birth certificate, passport, or signed doctors note.
Aftercare Information:
We understand that everyone’s schedule is a little different and picking up your camper(s) can be a challenge at times. We’re happy to offer an aftercare option for families who are not able to make it to the 4:00 pm pick up time.
Aftercare runs from 4:00 pm – 5:15 pm, Monday through Friday. Aftercare is only available for full-day camps (Junior Farmer Camp & Farm Discovery Camp). You may register your camper(s) for this option on a weekly basis. Your payment holds your spot in aftercare, and you can pay through our website after completing the camp forms.
We have a minimum attendance requirement to be able to provide this service. We will inform you 30 days prior to your camper’s session if aftercare is unavailable. We will process a refund at that time.
Aftercare is a supervised time but not a structured activity time. Campers are encouraged to bring a book or other activity for this time.
Thank you for choosing Billings Farm & Museum’s Summer Camp Program and we look forward to seeing you soon!
