Farmers Market Fun

Join this playful exploration of the farm-to-market journey. Young learners will discover where food comes from through storytelling, movement, and hands-on activities including farmers market dramatic play.

Little Gardeners
Wednesday, May 14th, 9:30AM – 10:30AM
Get ready to dig in and get messy! In this hands-on session, little learners will explore gardening tools, plant seeds, and help decorate a PK Garden sign. Families will also receive a free child admission ticket to visit the farm and watch their garden grow!

Pollinator Pals
Wednesday, June 11th, 9:30AM – 10:30AM

Flutter into a world of butterflies and pollinators! Young learners will explore the butterfly life cycle, observe pollinators in the Farmstead Gardens, and create their own wool butterflies.
This program takes place outdoors and includes walking on unpaved ground—please dress for exploration!

Berry Fun

It’s a berry celebration! Young learners will discover which berries grow in Vermont, what animals love to snack on them, and fun ways to cook with them. Children will make their own strawberry shortcake sauce to enjoy with locally baked cake in the garden!

Tails on the Farm

Join us for a farm adventure all about tails! Young learners will explore the farm, meet different animals, and discover what makes each tail unique. Through an interactive guessing game, they’ll compare tails and learn what they tell us about the animals.

Apples

Get ready for a delicious day of learning! Join us for a hands-on adventure in the apple orchard, where little learners will explore special tools used for picking, peeling, and preparing apples. Take a walk through the orchard, harvest apples, and enjoy a
freshly peeled snack.

A Draft Horse Adventure
Wednesday, October 8th, 9:30AM – 10:30AM
Young learners will get up close with the farm’s draft horses, exploring their size, strength, and the special gear they wear, and then take a horse-drawn wagon ride through the pastures. Dress warmly for this engaging outdoor experience full of learning and farm fun!

Autumn Harvest Time

Celebrate the flavors of fall with a hands-on harvest experience! Young learners will explore the root vegetables of the season by identifying, tasting, and discovering which farm animals enjoy them too. Through farmers market dramatic play, children will connect with autumn’s bounty in an interactive way.

Chickens

Get ready to discover the world of eggs and learn all about chickens! Young learners will explore which animals lay eggs and enjoy a farm-fresh tasting of Billings cheesy eggs.

Winter on the Farm
Wednesday, January 14th, 9:30AM -10:30AM
Young learners will explore how we care for animals, gardens, and the farm during colder months. Through interactive play, they’ll dress up stuffed animals in hand-knitted winter clothing. Storytime will highlight the coziness of the season, and everyone will enjoy a snack of locally baked bread with homemade butter and local jam.

Wheels on the Farm
Wednesday, February 11th, 9:30AM – 10:30AM
There are many wheels that keep the farm moving! Young learners will discover the shapes and colors of tractor and truck wheels through sensory play. They’ll navigate a wheelbarrow obstacle course, delivering farm supplies along the way. Come roll, play, and learn with us on the farm!
