A Place in the Land, a 32-minute film is shown daily in the theater as an introduction to Billings Farm & Museum and the adjoining Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park. Documenting the history of the estate over a 150 years through the ownership of George Perkins Marsh, Frederick Billings & Laurance S. & Mary F. Rockefeller. The film examines the history of conservation stewardship in America and on the farm over the past 3 centuries.

A Place in the Land lyrically presents the themes of conservation, stewardship, and sense-of place that continue to define the property to this day. A Place in the Land received an Academy Award® nomination for Best Documentary Short in 1998.
