Billings Farm & Museum Camps Are Open for Registration Experience Winter & Summer on the Farm
Step into the shoes of a farmer, meet the animals, connect stories to activities, and experience the wonder of winter at Billings Farm & Museum farm camps. In both winter and summer, the week-long day camps provide engaging, hands-on explorations of the farm and the local landscape, while teaching campers about caring for animals and the relationship between the food systems and ecosystem. Registration is now open for all sessions.
Winter Wonders Camp, February 20 – 24, 9:00AM – 12:30PM
For ages 6-8 or grades 1-3
This unique winter camp is full of “fun”tastic activities such as snow and wildlife explorations, sledding and winter crafts, and a chance to meet some of the farm’s animals and find out what they do in wintertime.
Some of the winter activities may include a nature scavenger hunt in the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park, making popcorn over a campfire, and lots of outdoor playtime. Campers can warm up in the cozy Learning Kitchen and learn how to bake cookies, make marshmallows from scratch, and more. Billings Bookworms Camp, Session 1: July 17 – 21; Session 2: August 14 – 18, 9:00AM – 12:30PM
Ages 6-8 or entering grades 1-3
This imaginative half-day camp is tailored for the younger farm enthusiast. Campers will listen to fun stories about farming, nature, and animals then meet the farm’s calves, sheep, chickens, and goats. Each day will include a theme that connects stories to hands-on activities throughout the site. Explorations throughout the week will take campers through the Farmstead Gardens and on exciting scavenger hunts all over the Billing’s property and the forests in Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park. Junior Farmer Camp, Session 1: June 19 – 23; Session 2: June 26 – 30; Session 3: July 24 – 28; Session 4: July 31 – August 4, 9:00AM – 4:00PM
Ages 7-10 or entering grades 2-5
Junior Farmer Camp is as hands-on as it gets. Campers will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the farm’s cows, horses, chickens, and sheep while learning the work that goes into the food we eat. In addition to daily farm chores and activities, the campers will explore farming topics like dairy, gardening, tractors, and draft animals. Some of the fun camp activities include taking a hayride through the farm fields, a pizza party with garden fresh ingredients, scavenger hunts around the farm, and tie dyeing a Junior Farmer Camp t-shirt. Farm Discovery Camp, Session 1: July 10 – 14; Session 2: August 7 – 11, 9:00AM – 4:00PM
Ages 11-14 or entering grades 6-9
For a chance to delve deep into what it means to be a farmer, this camp explores the ins and outs of a working dairy farm and the aspects of being part of a farming community. Campers can experience the daily rhythms of the farm, learn to care for the animals and land, and broaden their understanding of the farming industry and all it encompasses. Campers will meet local professionals and farmers who are leaders in their fields including the Billings Dairy Farm Manager and a large animal veterinarian.
